Police, Maoists exchange fire in Odisha

Angul: There was a brief exchange of fire between the police and Maoists near Satkosia Tiger Reserve here in Odisha late last night. No causalities were reported.

The Maoists of SDS Division (Sambalpur, Deogarh and Sundergarh), according to sources, became more active in the Satkosia sanctuary after some of its key members were killed in police encounter.

The ultras were first spotted in the Satkosia Wildlife Sanctuary in 2015. They were seen in areas such as Chutkei, Krushnachakragarh, Chuanri, Tuluka and Pampasar in and around the sanctuary.
