Kamakhyanagar: In a shocking incident an old man has been killed mercilessly by miscreants in Dhenkanal district of Odisha on Saturday. The throat of the man has been slit, said reports.
The deceased old man has bene identified as Dharmananda Dehury. He was was a resident of the Kandara village under Moruabili panchayat which falls under the Kankadahada police ststion limits.
The complaint in this regard has been filed by the family members of the deceased. It has been said that the man was attacked and killed due to past enmity. The local SDPO has reached the spot and is investigating into the matter. Further detailed reports waited in this regard.
Earlier in May last year, in a shocking incident a former samiti member in Dhenkanal district of Odisha has been allegedly murdered. The incident of the murder of a former samiti member has been reported from Dighi panchayat of Kamakhyanagar block in Dhenkanal district.
The former member from Dighi panchayat was allegedly murdered over suspected past enmity while returning home from a cashew orchard. As many as five persons have been detained in this connection by the Kamakhyanagar police.
Earlier in October 2022, the Body of a newlywed woman was found hanging, wherein the family of the deceased alleges a case of dowry death in Garapalasuni village under Parajang police station limits here in Odisha. The deceased had been identified as Sumitra Parida.
According to reports, 6 months ago Sumitra got legally married to her husband identified as Ranjit Behera in Garapalasuni as per rites. As per sources, Sumitra’s in-laws were harassing her over demand of Rs.50 thousand and a Television (TV) as dowry. Finding no other way out of harassment, Sumitra informed her mother regarding the torture by the in-laws.
In the meantime, Sumitra’s family members have alleged that, her in-laws after thrashing her hanged the body to frame it as a case of suicide. Besides, they have also lodged a complaint at the police station as a case of dowry death.
As per the lodged complaint, the police have initiated a probe and a scientific team has also initiated an investigation into the matter to find the reason behind Sumitra’s death.
