Odisha vigilance raid on Senior Assistant ESI Dispensary in Rourkela

Rourkela: Today a short while ago Abhiram Sahu, Senior Assistant ESI Dispensary in Rourkela, Sundargarh has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance raid. While demanding and accepting bribe of Rs.10,000/- from a Complainant (injured in an accident) for processing his medical reimbursement claim under ESI Scheme.

The complainant being a poor man had been repeatedly requesting accused Sahu, Sr. Assistant to process his medical claim since long. However, Sahu was insisting the complainant to pay the demanded bribe of Rs. 10,000/- to get his work done.

But, complainant expressed his inability to pay the bribe and finding no other way, informed Vigilance Authority narrating his harassment by Sahu. Accordingly, vigilance officials conducted the Odisha vigilance raid and planned and trapped Sahu today. While accepting demanded bribe from the complainant. The entire bribe money has been recovered and seized from the possession of accused Sahu.

Following the successful trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two locations of Sahu from DA angle. In this connection, Rourkela Vigilance P.S. Case No.04 dt.28.02.2024, U/s.7 P.C. (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered. Investigation is in progress against accused Sahu, Sr. Assistant. Detailed reports awaited in this matter.
