Odisha to experience heavy rainfall today, Orange warning issued to 5 districts

Areas across Odisha are to experience heavy rainfall due to cyclone 'Michaung.' An orange warning has been issued to 5 districts for today.

Bhubaneswar: Several areas across Odisha are likely to experience heavy rainfall under the influence of cyclone ‘Michaung.’ Areas under Rainfall has already begun in areas under Southern and Coastal Odisha. It has been raining in some parts of South Odisha district since last night.

The intensity of rainfall is likely to increase today. The regional meteorological department has issued an orange warning to five districts of Odisha in view of heavy to very heavy rainfall today. These districts include Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, and Ganjam. Several areas across these districts might experience heavy rainfall ranging from 70 mm to 200 mm.

Further, a yellow warning has been issued to four districts of Odisha in view of moderate to heavy rains today. These districts include Puri, Kalahandi, Nabarangapur, and Kandhamal. Couple of areas in these districts might experience rainfall ranging from 70 mm to 110 mm.

Next, the Regional meteorological department has issued a yellow warning to 12 districts of Odisha for moderate to heavy rainfall tomorrow. the sea continues to remain turbulent under the influence of cyclone ‘Michaung.’ Cautionary signal alert number 2 has been issued to all ports of Odisha.

Furthermore, the fishermen have been instructed against venturing into the sea tomorrow. Fire Brigade teams and officials from ODRAF have been put on alert.
