Odisha reports 206 Covid cases, 2 deaths

Bhubaneswar: A total of 206 Covid-19 positive cases including 32 in the 0-18 years age group have been detected positive in Odisha in the last 24 hours taking the tally to 10,45,862 informed the Information and Public Relations (I&PR) Department on Tuesday.

Among the 209 positives, 121 are quarantine cases and 85 are local contacts. However, 254 patients recovered in the State taking the total number of 10,34,759. Therefore, currently the active cases stands at 2669.

The details of local contacts will be shared by concerned District.

Besides the State Pool reported 27 Covid cases.

Meanwhile, as many as two COVID infected patients died in the last 24 hours, informed the State Health & Family Welfare Department on Tuesday taking the death toll to 8,381. Details of cases confirmed as death due to Covid-19, after due completion of death audit process:

1. A 93 years old Male of Bhubaneswar who was also suffering from Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease & Hypertension.

2. A 50 years old Female of Cuttack District who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus & Bronchial Asthma.

The department further stated that this list does not reflect deaths occurring on a particular day. It gives details of past deaths for which the death audit process has been duly completed and the cause of death has been identified as due to Covid-19.

On the other hand, India reported 8,865 new cases, which is lowest in 287 days, in last 24 hours. As many as 11,971 recoveries and 197 deaths in the country. The active caseload stands at 1,30,793 which is lowest in 525 days. The daily positivity rate is 0.80%, less than 2%, for last 43 days.
