Udala: In a shocking incident, a minor son was served for human sacrifice rituals by his own parents in Udala of Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district. The incident has come to the fore from Nudadiha area under Kaptipada police limit of the district.
According to sources, the parents of the victim took their son to offer him as human sacrifice rituals to their village deity on Tuesday late night. Fortunately, a few people saw the incident, and rushed to rescue the minor kid. Seeing locals approaching them, the father and mother fled from the spot.
The rescuers identified as Siddha Marandi and Phula Marandi from Chhotarayapur under Udala Police limits, rescued the minor child.

In a similar instance, Odisha police arrested four persons including a female priest and her 3 sons in the fateful human sacrifice case in Angul. The arrest was done a day after mutilated body of a 14-year-old boy was recovered. The incident occurred on July 30, yesteryear.
The body found hanging from the tree in Barini forest was highly decomposed and the lower part was detached from the upper portion.
Reportedly, the boy, who had been ailing for some time, was taken by his mother to perform certain rituals at an ashram. However, she count not find her son in the ashram next morning, following which she filed a complaint at the nearby police station. During investigation, the partially decomposed body of the 14-year-old was found.
This is not the only time, earlier, many such events of human sacrifice have been reported. In the year 2022, the Additional District Judge (ADJ) court in Jajpur awarded life imprisonment to a man who had killed a minor boy as part of a human sacrifice ritual in 2015.
