Odisha Government alerts Collectors of coastal districts after IMD’s rain alert

Bhubaneswar: In the wake of the Regional Meteorological centre’s prediction of heavy rain the coastal districts of Odisha till October 30, the Joint Special Relief Commissioner Pravat Ranjan Mohapatra today alerted the Collectors of the concerned districts.

Those districts, the Collectors of which have been alerted are Puri, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Ganjam, Bhadrak and Balasore.

A special attention is being given to Ganjam and Gajapati districts taking into account the cyclone Titli-hit status of these districts.

Bhubaneswar Regional Meteorological Centre Director, HR Biswas earlier informed that, scattered rainfall is likely to occur in few places in coastal districts from today while predicting heavy rainfall for one or two places in districts like Puri, Jagatsinghpur and Kendrapara.

“Light to moderate rainfall is most likely to occur over many places in coastal districts on October 29,” said Biswas.

Fishermen were also cautioned against venturing into the sea due to its rough conditions on October 29 and 30.
