Odisha: Congress issues ‘show-cause’ notice to Sura Routray for campaigning for his son

Bhubaneswar: The State Congress has issued ‘show-cause’ notice to party’s senior leader Sura Routray for campaigning for his son Manmath Routray, who is candidate of Biju Janta Dal (BJD) for upcoming elections.

According to reports, PCC Disciplinary Action Committee chairman Santosh Singh Saluja has issued notice to Sura Routray and has asked to give a valid reason behind campaigning for his son Manmath Routray withi 24 hours.

Earlier, the Congress has issued a show cause notice to senior Congress leader and MLA Suresh alas Sura Routray. In this notice also, the party has asked him about him seeking votes in favour of his son and BJD candidate Manmath Rautray.

To this notice, the congress leaders said that he would not campaign for any other party. However, no party can obstruct father-son relationship.

It is worth mentioning here that on March 27, the son of senior Congress leader Sura Routray Manmath Routray joined BJD in a mega Mishrana Parba at Shankha Bhawan in Bhubaneswar. Following his joining, he was selected as the candidate for the Bhubaneswar Lok Sabha constituency.

Notably, BJD has so far announced names of 108 candidates for the Assembly seats out of the total 147 Assembly constituencies in Odisha. Besides the MLA candidates, the Biju Janata Dal has so far announced 20 names for the Lok Sabha polls in Odisha out of the 21 MP seats.
