Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik appeals to observe Earth Hour today

Bhubaneswar/Puri: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik appealed everyone to switch off lights for one hour and observe Earth Hour on Saturday.

The CM appealed to all the people through a X post on his personal X handle to observe Earth Hour. He further said that, all lights at Naveen Niwas will be switched off for an hour today from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm.

The CM further appealed all to join the global pledge to conserve electricity and to mitigate global warming and climate change hazards. CM Patnaik said Earth is the only home we have and we have to work together to make Earth a more sustainable place.

In the X post he wrote, “Joining #EarthHour, I will switch off all lights at Naveen Niwas from 8.30 pm to 9.30 pm today. Appeal all to join the global movement to conserve electricity and reduce global warming for a sustainable Earth, the unique home we share.”

The World Wildlife Federation (WWF) has also joined hands with world famous sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik and shared a beautiful sand art to promote Earth Hour. Switch off, GIVE AN HOUR FOR EARTH was the message is given by Sudarsan through a sand art. WWF-India further said that it is proud to associate with Sudarsan Pattnaik and thankful for his thoughtful dedication.

Earth Hour is going to be celebrated all over the world today. The world will be dark for an hour. This day is observed on the last Saturday of March every year. This year Earth Hour will be celebrated from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm tonight and the people of the world will spend that 1 hour without electricity.

Since 2008, this day has been celebrated all over the world, while 190 countries have been celebrating it. People of the world shall switch off all unnecessary electrical appliances. One hour of darkness is required to observe this day. As much electricity as possible will be saved during this day. It helps to brighten the future of the whole world.
