Odia youth loots Rs 64 lakh from Bengali girl after coming in contact in matrimony website

A youth from Odisha’s Sambalpur district allegedly looted Rs 64 lakh from a Bengali girl after coming in contact with her in a matrimony website and assuring her to marry her.

Sambalpur: A youth from Odisha’s Sambalpur district allegedly looted Rs 64 lakh from a Bengali girl after coming in contact with her in a matrimony website and assuring her to marry her.

As alleged by Soma Ghosh, the victim from the Hooghly district of West Bengal, she came in contact with one Rahul of Nuapada village in Sambalpur district through a matrimony website.

In course of their conversation, both of them exchanged their mobile numbers and were talking to each other. Gradually, they expressed their willingness to marry with one another.

Their relation became so strong that Rahul used to go and meet Soma at her house in front of other family members. Even Rahul’s family members had gone to meet Soma and her family members and assured  for their wedding.

However, Rahul prolonged the date for marriage by showing his difficulties and problems. Even phase wise he had allegedly taken Rs 64 lakh from Soma. However, after getting money, he did not show interest for marriage and was avoiding Soma and her phone calls.

Finding no means of solution, Soma and her mother came to Sambalpur and were going to Rahul’s house. However, she was allegedly manhandled and beaten up by Rahul and his family members. Later, she filed a case against the accused.

Soma claimed that she had taken personal and gold loans to give money to Rahul and she threatened to commit suicide if her problem is not solved.
