Naveen Patnaik Invites Modi To His Swearing-In Ceremony On May 29

Bhubaneswar: According to reports, BJD Chief Naveen Patnaik has extended a formal invitation to Prime Minister-elect Narendra Modi to attend his swearing-in ceremony here on May 29.

Interestingly, Patnaik will take oath for a record fifth term as the Chief Minister of Odisha on Wednesday (May 29) whereas Narendra Modi will take oath as the Prime Minister for a second successive term the very next day (May 30).

All the important leaders of different political parties in Odisha have also been invited, a BJD source added.

Earlier, addressing an election rally at Basta under Balasore Lok Sabha constituency last month, Naveen had said, “BJD has already secured the majority in the assembly by the end of the third-phase polling. I humbly invite him (Modi) to attend the oath-taking ceremony of the new BJD government.”

Notably, Odisha’s new council of Ministers, headed by chief minister Naveen Patnaik, will be sworn-in at the exhibition ground in Bhubaneswar at 10.30 am on Wednesday. After being satisfied that the BJD commands a majority in the Odisha Legislative Assembly, Governor Prof. Ganeshi Lal on Sunday extended an invitation to BJD chief Naveen Patnaik to form the new government in the state.

As per reports, around 5000 guests, including the newly elected legislators and BJD party functionaries, will be a part of the ceremony.

Noteworthy, the Naveen Patnaik-led BJD emerged as the single largest party in Odisha by winning 112 seats out of the 146 assembly constituencies and 12 out of the 21 Lok Sabha seats in the recently concluded general elections.
