Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has been nominated for the Best Administrator, in India, in Outlook magazine’s Speakout Awards.
Naveen was nominated along with five other Chief Ministers – Nitish Kumar (Bihar), Devendra Fadnavis (Maharashtra), Manik Sarkar (Tripura), Mamata Banerjee (West Bengal), and Siddaramaiah (Karnataka) – for the prestigious award after an online survey conducted by the Outlook magazine.
The nomination has been made in response to their performance in terms of the state’s governance, development and growth as well as welfare measures taken by the respective governments.
71-year old Naveen, supremo of the Biju Janata Dal, has been the Chief Minister in Odisha for more than 17 years . His mild manners, “stand against corruption” and “pro-poor policies” have resulted in the development of a huge support base in Odisha, which has voted him to power for the last four consecutive terms.
Under his able leadership, Odisha recorded the sharpest poverty reduction in the country, and became an investment-friendly state through the “Invest Odisha” initiative.
