‘My Lord’, ‘Your Lordship’, ‘Your Honour’ Can No Longer Be Used In Orissa High Court

Cuttack: The old tradition by Orissa High Court advocates of addressing Chief Justice S. Muralidhar and justice R.K.Pattanayak as ‘My Lord’, ‘Your Lordship’, ‘Your Honour’ or prefix like ‘Hon’able’ has come to an end.

According to reports, the advocates will further address the Court’s bench as “Sir.”

The Orissa High Court resumed its function today, and for the bench, a schedule of business for the day was released.

“All counsel and parties in concern are requested to try and avoid addressing the judges of this bench as ‘My Lord’, ‘Your Lordship’, ‘Your Honour’, or with the prefix ‘Hon’able’. Any other form of address, consistent with the decorum of the Court, including ‘Sir’, should suffice,” read the appeal.
