Balasore: By having a field day, unidentified miscreants have looted at least four temples in Dagarpada panchayat under Khaira police limits in Balasore district last night.
The loot took place at Maa Tarini temple, Maa Baulasuni temple, Mausi Maa temple and Radha Krushna temple.
The loot came to light this morning after some priests reached the temples and found door locks broken. Smelling foul in the incident, they immediately called up police and informed.
After Khaira Police reached the spot and conducted the preliminary inquiry it came to notice that, donation boxes from all four temples have been burgled. Valuable jewelleries of the deities including five silver crowns, 10 gold ‘Kalara’, one ‘Mangal Sutra’, four silver ‘Bala’, three flutes and two silver ‘chita’ were also taken away by the looters.
During the series loot, the miscreants decamped with two bicycles of locals from the area.
Police have started an investigation into the incident.
