Bhubaneswar: The members of the Childline, with the help of police, rescued an eight-year-old girl from the clutches of a Child Protection Officer here on Monday.

Acting on a tip-off, the members of the Childline and city police intercepted officer of Angul District Child Protection Unit Anuradha Nayak at Bhubaneswar railway station and rescued the minor girl from her control.

Sources said that Nayak used to engage the girl to clean her house, look after her baby and massage her husband’s legs and hands.

The incident has raised eyebrow over the protection of children with many questioning if children are being engaged at domestic works by the Child Protection officials who will then protect them?
