Keonjhar: In a saddening incident, a minor boy died reportedly after being bitten by a poisonous snake in Odisha’s Keonjhar district last night.

One Satya Dehury, the son of Kalandi Dehury of Panchapuli village under Ghasipura Police station limits of the district was reportedly sleeping alongside his mother on Saturday night. In the meantime, a poisonous snake entered the house and bit the 11-year-old boy.

However, Satya’s family members knew about the snake bite only this morning and rushed him to a black magician (tantric) instead of taking him to the hospital for treatment.

Thinking that the tantric would remove the sanke’s poison from Satya’s body, his family members delayed in taking him to the hospital. However, as his health condition deteriorated further, they were forced to admit him at Anandapur Sub-divisional Hospital for medication.

Unfortunately, the minor boy breathed his last while undergoing treatment at the hospital. His bereaved parents were seen breaking down and crying aloud on the premises of the hospital.

While everyone present on the spot was saddened by the unfortunate and untimely death of Satya, a pall of gloom descended on his native village i.e Panchapuli.

Meanwhile, the villagers demanded adequate compensation for the family members of the deceased minor boy.
