Ministry of Railways approves final location survey for Jajpur Keonjhar Road-Dhamra Port new rail line

Ministry of Railways has given its nod for the final location survey (FLS) of a new railway line in Jajpur Keonjhar Road and Dhamra Port.

Bhubaneswar: In a significant development, the Ministry of Railways has given its nod for the final location survey (FLS) of a new railway line connecting Jajpur Keonjhar Road and Dhamra Port in Bhadrak district. This 96-kilometer stretch is set to enhance connectivity and open up new possibilities for the region.

The ministry has allocated Rs 2.4 crore to facilitate the survey process. The newly proposed railway line will traverse through important religious and tourist destinations, including the revered Akhandalamani temple at Aradi Pitha and Navigaya at Birajakhetra, as well as the town of Jajpur, the district headquarters.

Highlighting the significance of this project, an official from East Coast Railways stated that it fulfills a longstanding demand from the residents of Jajpur and Bhadrak districts. The railway line will serve to connect key tourism spots across Jajpur, Kendrapara, and Bhadrak districts, promoting regional development.

Beyond tourism, the proposed railway line holds economic promise, facilitating the efficient transportation of minerals from Keonjhar district and finished products from the industrial zones in Jajpur and Angul districts to Dhamra Port and vice versa. This strategic initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision ‘Purvoday’ and has received support from Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

During a visit to Jajpur and Bhadrak, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw assured that the proposed railway line would be considered, emphasizing its potential to bring substantial benefits to the region.
