Low pressure over BOB to cause rainfall in state, Yellow warning issued to 14 districts

The regional meteorological department has issued a yellow warning to 14 districts in view of heavy rainfall within the next 24 hours.

Bhubaneswar: The state is currently experiencing scattered rainfall across several areas as the monsoon remains active, with back-to-back low pressure and cyclonic activity having significant influence on the weather conditions. The low pressure centered over the North-Western Bay of Bengal and Southern Odisha have weakened recently.

Reportedly, another low pressure is likely to form over the Western Bay of Bengal on July 24. As a result of which, Southern Odisha and Northern Andhra Pradesh is likely to experience moderate to heavy rainfall in several areas.

The regional meteorological department has issued a yellow warning to 14 districts in view of heavy rainfall within the next 24 hours. Additionally, 11 districts have been issued a yellow warning for heavy to very heavy rainfall from July 24 onwards. Rainfall is likely to intensify from July 25.

The current monsoon season in Odisha has experienced a deficit in rainfall. The average rainfall is around 14 percent less than the expected average rainfall.
