IMD issues yellow alert for heavy rain in 7 districts of Odisha

The regional center of Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued yellow warning for heavy rain in seven districts of Odisha.

Bhubaneswar: The regional center of Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued yellow warning for heavy rain in seven districts of Odisha.

The districts including Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Gajapati, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, and Ganjam are likely to experience heavy rainfall. Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati,Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri.

On the other hand, heat wave condition is very likely to prevail at a few places over the district of Bargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Sonepur, and Bolangir.

The State is likely to get some relief from the heat as the Southwest Monsoon is expected to hit the state by June 21, 2023.

The local MeT office situated here in Bhubaneswar further added that there has been a noticeable drop in the day time temperatures in Odisha.

The capital city of Bhubaneswar received heavy rain with thunderstorm and lightning at mid-night on Monday leading to a remarkable relief in the sweltering heat.
