Koraput : Police seized as many as 50 cartons of Indian-made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) in Odisha’s Koraput district on Monday and arrested a person in this connection.
The accused has been identified as Simanchal Patra of Nandpur area in the district.
Based on a tip off, Lamtaput police intercepted a four-wheeler (Commander Jeep) bearing Regd No: OR 09 A7285 near Sagar village on Semiliguda- Lamtaput road in the district and found huge quantity of IMFL in the vehicle.
The illicit liquor cartons were transported to Lamtaput from Semiliguda, police said adding that the estimate cost of the seized liquor would be Rs 2 lakh.
A case has been registered at Lamatput police station and the accused will be forwarded to the court tomorrow, an official said.
