High prices of food & fuel hit common man’s pocket

Bhubaneswar: The high prices of food items and fuel have hit the common man’s pocket in Odisha. The price of several essential commodities like dal and edible oil has been increasing constantly.

According to reports, one kg of Arhar Dal is being sold between Rs 90 and Rs 110, which one month ago was sold at between Rs 89 and Rs 89.

Likewise, one kilogram of Bengal gram which used to cost Rs 56-60 is now costs Rs 62. One has to now pay Rs 88 for one kilogram of urad dal, which used to be Rs 84 one month ago.

The market price of one litre of mustard oil is now 165-185 rupees while one litre of refined oil is being sold between Rs 140 and Rs 155.

Likewise, the price of one kg of sugar has increased by 2-5 rupees within a month and is now being sold for Rs 45.

On the other hand, the secretary of Odisha Traders Association, Sudhakar Panda, claimed that the prices of the essential commodities are increasing due to fuel (petrol & diesel) price hikes.
