Malkangiri: Torrential rains in several parts of the Malkangiri over the last 24 hours have triggered a flood-like situation in the district. Flashflood was witnessed particularly in areas like Poteru and Kankerkonda.
Flood water was seen flowing three to four feet over the Poteru and Kankerkonda river bridges since Sunday morning cutting off road communication to Kalimela area. Traffic movement through the Malkangiri-Motu-Padia-Kalimela route has come to a grinding halt due to the ingress of flood water.
Acres of farmland have also submerged under flood water in the district.
Meanwhile, Malkangiri MLA Manas Madkami visited the flood affected areas in the district this morning and took stock of the situation.
