Heavy rain warning issued for three districts of Odisha, yellow alert for lighting in 20 districts

The regional Meteorological center has issued a yellow warning for lighting and heavy rain for several districts of Odisha today.

Bhubaneswar: The regional Meteorological center has issued a yellow warning for lighting in as many as 20 districts of Odisha till 8.30am today that is on Sunday. Three districts have also received a yellow warning for heavy rain today. These districts are Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, and Sambalpur. Some places of these districts will likely receive 7 to 11 centimeter rain today.

In the next 24 hours, as many as 24 districts will witness lighting, alerted MeT.

Meanwhile, a cyclonic circulation will likely forming over the Andaman Sea and it’s nearby areas by September 24, 2023. Under the effect of the Cyclonic circulation, a low pressure will form over the East Central Bay of Bengal near Andaman Sea. The low pressure will intensify into a depression while moving towards in West-North-West direction, said MeT.

The upcoming low pressure is said to fill up the rain deficiency the state is facing. The state has received 1081mm rain in the monsoon season from June 1 till now. Which is 3 per cent less than the average rain of 1114.6 mm rain. The Meteorological Center has revealed that three districts has received more rain than needed while two districts have received deficient rain and the other 25 districts have received average rain.
