Eligible beneficiaries deprived of ‘Mo Ghara’ scheme benefit in Mahanga of Cuttack, watch

Cuttack: Many eligible beneficiaries of Mahanga Assembly Constituency in Cuttack district of Odisha are reportedly deprived of the benefit under ‘Mo Ghara’ yojana. The beneficiaries have complained that despite of their repeated appeal to the bank, they are yet to get a house under the above scheme, for which they are still living in small wretched house which is in precarious condition.

Government is coming up with many schemes to provide benefit to the citizens. However, practically such facility is availed by only a few beneficiaries. This has been witnessed in Mahanga constituency.

There are two blocks coming under Mahanga constituency – Nischintakoili and Mahanga blocks. Astonishingly, though more than four thousand citizens have been recognized as eligible for Mo Ghara scheme, only 5 persons have so far received money under this scheme.

Similarly, it has been reported that though 2860 persons are eligible beneficiaries in the Nischintakoili Block, only 2 persons have got money under ‘Mo Ghara’ yojana.

As per the beneficiaries, the bank authorities are seeking the RoR (Right of Records) of the land in the name of the beneficiary and an income certificate of Rs. 1.20 lakh (per annum). In the answer to this requirement the beneficiaries said that when we are struggling to get two meals of the day, where from we can get the income certificate.

Asked about this issue, Mahanga BDO said that we have cleared many beneficiaries to avail the benefit. Probably, they are yet to get the benefit for failing to submit the required documents to the bank. However, we will discuss with the bank about how more and more eligible people can avail the benefit.
