Elderly Man Trampled To Death By Elephant In Dhenkanal
Dhenkanal: In yet another unfortunate incident, an elderly man was trampled to death by a wild elephant at Gailo village under Parjang police limits in Dhenkanal district on Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as Kumuda Sahu (60). He had gone to a nearby field for collecting grass for livestock when he was attacked by the tusker who crushed his head, resulting in his immediate death.
Post the incident, Forest officials reached the spot and handed a compensation of Rs 40,000 to the family of Sahu.
Notably, the herd of wild elephants have wreaked havoc in the area since the last few days. The wild tuskers, reportedly numbering to 30, have spread panic in the area- damaging houses and destroying standing crops.
