DRDO Espionage case: Crime Branch files status report in Orissa High Court

Cuttack: In the matter of the PIL filed in Orissa High Court over the Chandipur espionage case, Odisha Crime Branch on Tuesday filed status report in Orissa High Court through affidavit. As per this report, the five accused persons were being contacted through telephonic calls from foreign countries.

As per reports, money was being sent to these accused persons’ bank account and they were chatting mainly on Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram.

Keeping the gravity of the matter in view the High Court has issued directives to file up-to-date Status report in the Court before the next hearing.

The next hearing of the case has been scheduled on February 3, 2022. The hearing took place in the bench constituted of chief Justice Dr. S Muralidhar and Justice Aditya Mohapatra.

The Court had earlier issued notice to the Central government, the opposite party to file a written statement in this matter. While the centre has not filed the answer, the court has asked to file it before the next hearing.

Filed by advocate Arun Kumar Budhia it has been mentioned in the petition that though it is related to the security of the nation Govt has asked the Crime Branch for the investigation.

On last September 14 five persons had been arrested in this matter while many facts have been ascertained so far after investigation. The accused were in connection with a woman.

Accordingly, the petitioner has prayed for investigation of the matter through CBI or NIA.
