Dr Itirani Samanta felicitated by Kolkata Odisha Welfare Society

The editor of Odisha’s popular family magazine ‘Kadambini’ Dr Samanta was conferred with the ‘Srestha Narishakti Sahitya Samman’ -- Best Female Empowerment Literary Award

Kolkata: Dr Itirani Samanta, litterateur and the editor of Odisha’s popular monthly and highest circulated family magazine ‘Kadambini’ was felicitated with the ‘Srestha Narishakti Sahitya Samman’ (Best Female Empowerment Literary Award) recently by the Kolkata-based cultural organization ‘Kolkata Odisha Welfare Society’.

Former West Bengal Police DG Durga Prasad Tarenia formally conferred the honour to Dr Samanta. In the meeting organized under the chairmanship of Niranjan Rout, senior official of Income Tax Department Sushant Kumar Panda, SRFTI director Himansu Sekhar Khatua, ‘Pratibeshi’ literary magazine editor Pitambar Barik, Damodar Lenka, ‘Nilachakra’ president Krutibasha Mohapatra, and editor Seshadev Samal, Neha Rout, Dr. Bināpanī Devta, ‘Setu’ magazine editor Prashant Nath, Jagannath Basti Unnayana Samiti secretary Ghanashyam Padhi and GST expert Debashish Dutt presented their speech.

Addressing the gathering former Police DG Tarenia said that Dr Iti Samanta’s contribution to the field of humanistic literary creation is an asset for the literary world.

In response to the felicitation, Dr. Iti Samanta said that only the experienced person can know how the development of education, culture and literature is taking place with the diaspora. After coming to Kolkata and witnessing it, she was mesmerized, she said.

Literature is veneration for me which I have accepted as a vow of life, said Dr. Iti Samanta.
