Films should always be life oriented, says Dr Samanta

Kolkata: Films should always be life oriented. The film should be made keeping in mind our own environment and situation and the national level. Only if the film is life-oriented, it can influence various aspects of the society, said Dr Iti Samanta, editor of Odisha’s most popular family magazine ‘Kadambini’ while visiting the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (SRFTI), Kolkata on Friday.

The film producer has an important role to play. In the current situation, the most important thing is to give importance to values, said the eminent litterateur and film producer Dr. Iti Samanta.

During her visit to SRFTI, Dr Samanta visited various departments of SRFTI and interacted with the students. In this context, she discussed about different dimensions of award-winning films like ‘Krantidhara’ and ‘Sunya Swaroopa’.

On this occasion, SRFTI Director Himansu Sekhar Khatua felicitated Dr. Iti Samanta. He presented a few books along with the souvenir of SRFTI released on its 25th anniversary.

Among others, senior officials like Amitabh Khillar, Manas Ranjan Rath, SRFTI Camera Department Manager Biraja Prasanna Kar, Production Manager Subhas Jha, Arpita Gupta Kundu and Sandeep Sengupta were present on this occasion.
