Daily average spend on Ads by NDA is twice UPA

New Delhi: The average daily expenditure on advertisement in print and electronic medium in the three-year rule of NDA government is double the amount spent during the two terms of UPA regime, revealed the response to an RTI query.

Replying to An RTI petition filed by activist Arjun Parmar, the Directorate of Advertising and Visual Publicity (DAVP) has revealed that the NDA government has spent Rs 3,214.7 crore on print and electronic advertisement in the past three years, which works out to a daily average of Rs 3.21 crore while the UPA regime had spent a total of Rs 2658.24 crore in its 10 years in power, a daily average of Rs 1.45 crore.

NDA’s expenditure on electronic media advertising during 2014-2017 was Rs 1,585 crore, which is 80% more than what was spent during 2010-2014 during the UPA regime.

On print advertising, NDA spent Rs 1,630 crore in the last three years, which is 50% more than the amount spent during the decade long rule of UPA.

It also stated that Rs 315 crore was spent during 2014-2017 for outdoor publicity whereas the UPA regime had shelled out Rs 202 crore for the same during 2010-2014.
