Close shave for driver, helper as running truck catches fire in Nuapada

Nuapada: Driver and helper of a coal-laden truck had a close shave after it caught fire on the move on NH-353 near Kharia area in the district last night.

The incident took place while the vehicle was on its way to Nuapada carrying the coal consignment to Nuapada late in the night. A spark which erupted in the engine over unknown reason rapidly engulfed the whole vehicle following which the driver and helper duo stopped mid-way and jumped out of their seats.

However, before fire service personnel could reach the spot, the vehicle was completely reduced to ashes.

While the identification of the escaped driver and helper is yet to be ascertained efforts are on to find out the cause of fire.
