CCTV mandatory in Odisha Hotels, Lodges: DGP

RP-Sharma-DGPCuttack: To strengthen the law and order situation in Odisha, DGP Rajendra Prasad Sharma on Saturday issued a list of fresh guidelines for hotels, lodges and guest houses across the state.

The owners of hotels, lodges and other guest houses in the state have been asked to install CCTV cameras in the hotel premises including the entry and exit points, parking area and other prominent locations.

The hoteliers have also been asked to ensure to get clear pictures from CCTV cameras.

Besides, DMFD, baggage and vehicle scanners should also be installed for proper screening in the hotels. Bar must be closed in time,the directive said.

Hotel owners and staff also have been asked to ensure timely registration and renewal with the respective district collectors and Commissionerate of Police as per the Sarai Act.

The guidelines also asked hoteliers to install fire safety equipment and conduct fire safety drills at regular intervals.

The move has been initiated in the wake of recent incidents of terrorism and other heinous crimes in several parts of the country and worldwide.

Sharma also wrote  letters  to all the Superintendents of Police (SP), and DCPs in the state asking them to follow the guidelines in letter and spirit.
