Boat capsizes in Patali River in Koraput: Bodies of 4 missing persons recovered, CM announces exgratia

Koraput: The Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) and Nandapur fire services personnel recovered bodies of four missing persons from the Patali River.

The rescue teams fished out the bodies of Sashirekha Alarb (24), Shanti Sisa (13), Naibina Alarb (25) and Pushpanjali Alrab (14) of Tansing village two days after the boat tragedy. Earlier, body of one Lalmani Sisa (23) was seen floating on the river water yesterday.

The deceased persons had reportedly gone to Dabela village on Wednesday to attend a banquet by crossing the river with the help of a country boat. However, the boat reportedly overturned while they were returning home yesterday following which all of them drowned in the river.

A pall of gloom has descended on the locality following the unfortunate deaths of the five residents of Tansing village. Padua police has started an investigation into the matter.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik expressed his deep grief over the death of fiver persons and announced an exgratia of the Rs 4 lakh for the next kin of each deceased.
