BJP’s absconding candidate denies allegations through Facebook

Bhubaneswar: Om Prakash Mishra, the BJP candidate for Satyabadi assembly constituency in Puri district today denied the allegations of manhandling polling officials.

Puri police have launched a manhunt to nab Mishra for allegedly smashing EVMs in a polling booth on April 23 when polling was underway. The BJP candidate also allegedly manhandled the presiding officer of the booth.

Mishra posted a video on his Facebook claiming that the allegation by the presiding officer was a blatant lie. “I am being implicated in the case. Police must conduct an impartial probe to find out people involved in the rigging of votes. If I have done any crime, I am ready to face the consequence,” Mishra said in the video.

However, the video has put the police into tizzy as they are yet to ascertain the whereabouts of the leader. Police said that they have intensified raids in Odisha and neighbouring states to arrest him at the earliest possible.
