Banpur JMFC rejects Chilika MLA Prasanta Jagadev’s bail plea

Chilika: In a development in the Controversial Chilika MLA Prashant Jagdev matter, Banpur Judicial Magistrate of First Class (JMFC) court has rejected his bail plea.

Reportedly, he has been sent to Banpur sub-jail after his bail plea was rejected.

He was arrested earlier on Tuesday after he recovered from his injuries at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar. He has been arrested for mowing down several people near the Banapur block office in Khurda district during the Block Chairman Election on March 12.

It is to be noted here that more than 20 people including six-seven cops, journalists, and women were injured after they were run over by the legislator on March 12. Later, the angry mob attacked the MLA brutally and vandalized his four-wheeler.

A special team of cops from Banapur and Khurda Police Stations produced the Chilika MLA amid tight security before the Bhubaneswar SDJM Court after his arrest.

Sources said that the arrested MLA will be taken to Banapur from Bhubaneswar and produced before the Banapur Court later today and apply to take him on remand for interrogation into the matter.
