Bali Yatra to be held this year in Cuttack

Bhubaneswar: The historic Bali Yatra on the banks of river Mahanadi in Cuttack city will be held this year. This was informed by the Cuttack district administration on Monday.

It is to be noted here that the district administration had cancelled the annual fair in the Millennium City for the last two years (2020 and 2021) in view of the outbreak of the COVID pandemic.

The decision to give green signal for this year’s Bali Yatra was taken during a meeting held under the chairmanship of Cuttack Collector Bhawani Shankar Chayani.

The decision to conduct the Bali Yatra this year has been taken following the decline in the number of Covid-19 cases in the Odisha, he said.

The Bali Yatra is an annual festival to commemorate the rich maritime history of Odisha. Normally, a week-long event is organised starting from the day of Kartika Purnima (full moon day in the month of Kartik i.e October-November).

Lakhs of people from different parts of the State take part in the Bali Yatra which is considered Asia’s largest open trade fair.
