Back to back lightning and thunderstorm witnessed in Cuttack City, fear and panic grip residents

Residents of Odisha's Cuttack city are in a state of fear and panic following back to back lightning and thunderstorm on Friday evening.

Cuttack: Residents of Odisha’s Cuttack city are in a state of fear and panic following back to back lightning and thunderstorm on Friday evening.

The regional centre of IMD (India Meteorological Department) in Bhubaneswar had predicted that light to moderate rain/thunderstorm with lightening would occur in Cuttack district including Cuttack City within next three hours.

However, the people of the Silver City reportedly witnessed back to back lightning and thunderstorm for more than last 25 minutes, which caused fear among them. Due to this, most of them prefer to stay indoors and those who were outside the house hid themselves in safe locations to avoid being stuck by the lightning strike.

The locals of Cuttack City got a sigh of relief from the back to back lightning and thunderstorm as they were accompanied with rainfall, said sources.

As per the warning of the IMD, light to moderate rain/thunderstorm with lightening also likely to affect some parts of the districts of Sonepur, Boudh, Angul, Deogarh, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Jajpur, Keonjhar, Sundergarh, Kandhamal, Malkangiri, Koraput, Bargarh, Rayagada, Sambalpur, Ganjam, Gajapati and  Khurda (including Bhubaneswar) within next three hours.

People of this districts and the State Capital City have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and accordingly move to safer places to protect from lightning strikes.
