Amit Shah to take stock before elections at Salepur of Odisha tomorrow

Bhubaneswar: After Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to Odisha, BJP national president Amit Shah is visiting the state tomorrow on Tuesday. Shah would kick off his party’s campaign at Salepur where he would make strategy with the booth level workers as well as the booth prabharis on the ways to impress the voters. He would plan out the party’s war plan for the upcoming elections.

Shah will also attend the upcoming national convention of BJP Janjati (Scheduled Tribe) Rashtriya Morcha in Puri during his one-day visit to Odisha on February 3.

At Salepur Shah would brief booth-level committee members in the four Lok Sabha constituencies of Cuttack, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur and Jajpur about impressing upon the voters. These seats are considered as the fortes of BJD. There are no MPs or MLAs from the saffron party in these constituencies. Hence the party president will preach about how BJP will do well in these constituencies. Later also he would visit the state to attend booth level summits in other constituencies.

At a time when the elections is two months away, what the national president will tell is not important, but who will be the BJP candidates in these constituencies is more important. Earlier the PM did not say anything against the Naveen Pattnaik led BJD during his visit to Odisha. Hence, what Amit will say is not important.

In the 2014 elections BJP’s Jajpur MP Candidate was Amiya Mallick, while Bishnu Das contested from BJP ticket from Kendrapara. Jagatsingpur’s MP candidate for the saffron party was Baidhara Mallick and Samir Dey was the BJP candidate for Cuttack constituency. All these candidates maintained third position in the last elections.

The fight between new and old cadres is growing day by day in BJP. Zilla Parishad members and zonal presidents of BJP have left the party to join BJD. In this scenario it is expected that Shah will work on this issue to come out with a solution.
