5 killed after Hyva truck hits auto in Sundergarh

Sundergarh: In a tragic incident, five persons were killed after a Hyva truck hits an auto-rickshaw at Telendihi Chhak under Sadar Police limits on Sunday afternoon.

The identity of the deceased has not been ascertained.

Reports say, some residents of Bagicha pada of Sundergarh had gone for picnic in an auto. While they were returning back from the picnic, due to some reason they were standing at Telendihi Chhak near the auto when the speeding sand-laden Hyva truck came from opposite direction and hit them. Both the truck and auto flung into air and fell into 20-ft field area. Following which five people died on the spot and two sustained critical injuries.

Soon after the accident, the locals came in for rescue and rushed the critically injured ones to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH), Sundergarh for medical aid.

On being informed about the accident, the police reached the spot and started an investigation into the matter.

The locals got hold of the driver and has handed him over to the police.
