4 arrested for kidnapping minor for ransom of Rs 2 crore in Odisha’s Deogarh

Four people were arrested for allegedly kidnapping a six-year-old girl for ransom of Rs 2 crore in Odisha’s Deogarh.

Deogarh: Four people were arrested for allegedly kidnapping a six-year-old girl for ransom of Rs 2 crore in Odisha’s Deogarh. The accused have been identified as Himanshu Narang, Deepak Nayak, Rohit Patra and Maheswar Sagadia.

The Deogarh police has also seized the car used in the crime, two bikes and four mobile phones.

Speaking at a press meet, Deogarh SP Pradyumna Kumar Mishra revealed, “The four accused plotted to kidnap the girl to demand Rs 2 crore as ransom. They had planned to divide the amount among them equally and lead a luxurious life.”

According to sources, the minor girl was kidnapped while she was returning home from tuition classes with her grandmother on December 18. During investigation, police got a clue that two accused took the girl to Bargaon in Sundargarh district. However, the hotelier denied them to provide room for not submitting identity proofs. The hotelier later informed police about the matter after watching the girl’s kidnapping on news.

Based on the information, police apprehended the kidnappers and initiated interrogation. During the interrogation, the accused revealed that they kidnapped the minor for ransom. Meanwhile, the minor girl was found crying near a bridge by a woman. She was later handed over to her parents.
