31 platoons of force to be deployed for Dusserha duty in Bhubaneswar

A total of 31 platoons of police personnel will be deployed in Bhubaneswar to maintain law and order in the city during Dusserha.

Bhubaneswar: A total of 31 platoons of police personnel will be deployed in Bhubaneswar to maintain law and order in the city, which will witness grand Durga Puja and Dussehra festivities at 118 different locations. The security measures will be in effect from October 20 to October 25, covering a period of six days, as confirmed by Police Commissioner Soumendra Priyadarshi.

The security deployment includes a comprehensive team consisting of 12 officials holding the rank of Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, 23 Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACPs), 41 Inspectors, 151 Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs), 119 traffic constables, 70 Armed Police Reserve (APR) constables, and 207 Odisha Armed Police Force (OAPF) constables. Additionally, the entire city will be under constant CCTV surveillance, ensuring comprehensive coverage.

During the Durga Puja celebrations, stringent measures will be in place, including increased security checks and traffic restrictions. Heavy vehicles will be restricted from using the main roads within the city. The security provided to the puja pandals will be categorized into three levels.

The Commissionerate Police, in collaboration with various departments, has conducted joint inspections to ensure safety and compliance with regulations. Six control rooms have been set up to coordinate and monitor security efforts. A toll-free helpline number has been established for reporting any suspicious activity or individuals soliciting donations for Durga Puja.

Bhubaneswar’s Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) will oversee the security arrangements round-the-clock to ensure a safe and secure environment for residents and visitors. Commissioner Soumendra Priyadarshi has urged the public to remain vigilant and take precautions for the safety of their homes while participating in the Durga Puja festivities.
