3 including former Councillor held for looting youth at gun point

Kendrapara: Solving a three-day-old loot case in which miscreants had snatched away valuables and cash from a youth in Duhuria village here at gun point, Kendrapara Sadar Police arrested all three accused today.

The held accused have been identified as Rashmi Ranjan Das alias New, his brother-in-law Pintu and aide Papu. Das is a former Councillor of Nasdipur.

Informing on the arrest Sadar Police Station IIC Kabuli Barik said, the trio was nabbed after police raided their hideouts this morning after getting a tip-off on the same.

“During the raid cops seized a pistol, 2 live bullets, one TVS Scooty and one bike from the possession of the accused and seized them,” added Barik.

As per a complaint filed by Kailash Sethy of Balabhadrapur village the trio intercepted him on his way in Dehuria village on February 16 and snatched away a gold ring along with Rs 10,500 in cash at the gun point.

Cases under Section 394 of IPC and Section 25 of Arms Act have been lodged against the held accused and they would be forwarded to court today.
