25,934 people killed in road accident in Odisha from 2018-2022
A total of 25,934 people died due to road accident in Odisha between 2018 and 2022, informed Transport Minister Tukuni Sahoo while speaking in the state assembly today.
Bhubaneswar: A total of 25,934 people died due to road accident in Odisha between 2018 and 2022, informed Transport Minister Tukuni Sahoo while speaking in the state assembly today.
According to the Minister, 51,873 persons also sustained severe and minor injuries due to the road mishaps during 2018-2022.
Between 2018 and 2022, the maximum number of 5,467 persons died in road accidents in the state was in 2022. This was followed by 2019, during which 5,333 deaths were reported.
The minister further said that from 2019 to till date, the state government has awarded Rs 1,568.50 lakh as compensation to the injured persons and relatives of deceased persons. The State gives an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh and Rs 50,000 each to the kin of the deceased and those sustaining serious injuries respectively.
