Dhenkanal: In yet another unfortunate incident, two women were killed when a dumper loaded with sand hit them at Bhagabanpur chhak under Town Police limits in Dhenkanal on Monday.
The deceased have been identified as Asanti Sahu (40) and Sina Behura (70).
According to reports, the duo were sitting in front of their house when the sand-laden dumper mowed them, resulting in their immediate death.
Post the incident, irate locals blocked Dhenkanal-Kapilas road at Bhagabanpur chhak demanding compensation to families of the victims.
On being informed, the police and local authorities reached the spot and pacified the irate locals, who called off their agitation after being assured that the victims’ families will receive Rs. 10,000 as compensation.
