Baripada: In a fresh hit-and-run case in the state, at least two bike-borne youths were killed after their motorcycle was hit by an unknown vehicle on NH-18 near Jharpokharia in Mayurbhanj district this morning.
The victims have been identified as Deepak Sethy (27) of Sarasakana and Dipun Sahu (25) of Tulasibani villages of the same district.
As per the reports, Deepak and Dipun were on their way to some work early in the morning today when the mishap took place. An unidentified vehicle which was coming from the opposite direction hit the bike the duo was travelling on right in front of the Jagannathkhunta High School and fled from the spot.
The victim duo sustained grievous injury in the crash and died on the spot.
Bangiriposhi police rushed to the spot later and seized the bodies along with the mangled bike.
Investigations are underway to trace the unknown vehicle.
