12-hour bandh by BJP cripples life in Dhenkanal

Dhenkanal: Normal life came to a standstill across Dhenkanal following a 12-hour bandh call given by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today, pressing the government to fulfil a four-point charter of demands including implementation of Central Government’s ‘Ayushman Bharat’ scheme.

While schools, colleges and other education institutions remained closed during the bandh bandh observation which started at around 6 am in the morning, shops and business establishments also downed their shutter.

Commuters across Dhenkanal town also faced a tough time as government and private bus service remained suspended in view of the road blockade and picketing by the district BJP workers.

Bandh supporters locked up Dhenkanal Collector’s office and resorted to sloganeering against the degrading healthcare facility in the district later.

BJP is demanding upgradation of the old hospital in the town to City Hospital, filling up of doctor’s post lying vacant in various government hospitals in the district and setting up of a police outpost in front of the new hospital along with the implementation of Central Government’s national health scheme.
