Two terrorists killed after Infiltration bid foiled in Poonch’s Balakote

The army killed two terrorists from infiltrating across the Line of Control (LoC) in the Balakote sector of Poonch district.

Rajouri: In a daring operation, the army killed two terrorists from infiltrating across the Line of Control (LoC) in the Balakote sector of Poonch district.

Defence spokesperson Lt Col Suneel Bartwal said, “Intelligence inputs received from multiple intelligence agencies and police revealed the presence of terrorists waiting across the LoC to enter from Balakote sector. Based on these inputs, a surveillance grid was placed on heightened alert and multiple ambushes were planted at suitable locations.”

Early on Monday morning, our vigilant troops spotted two terrorists attempting to sneak across the LoC. These terrorists were using the cover of bad weather, dense fog, thick foliage, and rough terrain in the Hamirpur area of Balakote sector to their advantage.

“As the terrorists approached ambush, they were challenged and then engaged with effective fire. This forced the terrorists to flee from the ambush site. However, firing resulted in one terrorist falling down on the ground near the LoC,” said Col Bartwal. Swift action was taken as additional troops were deployed to the area. Later in the day, as the weather improved and visibility increased, search operations began.

During the search, our forces discovered an AK-47 rifle with two magazines, 30 rounds of ammunition, two grenades, and medicines of Pakistani origin.

Notably, blood trails leading towards the LoC were also found during the search. According to intelligence reports, the two terrorists who attempted to infiltrate had been injured by army gunfire. Despite their injuries, they managed to escape back across the LoC, but tragically, they succumbed to their injuries later.
