Pune Porsche accident: Accused teen grandfather arrested

Pune: In the latest development case of the Pune Porsche accident,  the grandfather of the minor accused has been arrested by the Crime Branch unit of Pune Police.

A separate FIR has been registered against the grandfather under IPC 365 and 368.

According to police, the grandfather of the 17-year-old minor has been arrested for “wrongful confinement” of their family driver. On a complaint by the family driver of the juvenile, the Yerawada police have registered a separate offence against the teen’s grandfather and father under IPC sections 365 (kidnapping with intent secretly and wrongfully to confine a person) and 368 (wrongfully concealing or keeping in confinement).

Yesterday, Pune Police said efforts were made to force the driver to take blame minutes after the accident. After the accident, the grandfather locked up the driver and asked him to take the blame.  He also told him that the family would ensure he is released too.

The teen’s grandfather and father allegedly took the driver’s phone, put him in confinement in his house on the premises of their bungalow. Later, the driver was freed by his wife.

Yesterday, two officials Rahul Jagdale and Assistant Police Inspector Vishwanath Todkari from the Yerawada police station were suspended on May 24 for alleged dereliction of duty.

Agarwal, who was nabbed after interrogation around 3 a.m. on Saturday, is likely to be produced before the Pune court later in the day for remand. His son and prominent Pune realty developer Vishal S. Agarwal was arrested and sent to police custody which ended on May 24 and was remanded to a two-week judicial remand.

His grandson and prime accused minor boy is under detention at a juvenile correctional home till June 5 after he rammed his speeding Porsche car into the Koshtha-Awadhiya duo returning home on their motorcycle.
