New Delhi: The Delhi Police special cell arrested a suspected ISIS terrorist, identified as Shahnawaz alias Shafi Uzzama, on Monday.
Reports indicate that Shafi Uzzama was a wanted individual on the National Investigation Agency’s (NIA) list, with a reward of Rs 3 lakhs for his capture. He was linked to the Pune ISIS case.
Shafi Uzzama, who works as an engineer, hails from Delhi but managed to evade authorities after escaping from Pune police custody. He had been hiding in Delhi before his recent arrest.
During the operation, the special cell of the Delhi Police also detained several other individuals in connection with the case. The investigation is currently ongoing, as stated by the Delhi Police.
This development comes after the NIA announced a cash reward of Rs 3 lakhs each for information leading to the arrest of four accused persons in the ISIS Pune module case back in September.
The individuals sought by the NIA included Mohammad Shahnawaz Shafiuzzama Alam, also known as Shafi Ujjama or Abdullah (who has been arrested), Rizwan Abdul Haji Ali, Abdulla Faiyaz Shaikh, also known as Diaperwala, and Talha Liyakat Khan.
