IndiGo makes successful emergency landing at Delhi after Engine failure

IndiGo flight had a successful emergency landing at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport after reporting an engine failure.

New Delhi: IndiGo flight had a successful emergency landing at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport after reporting an engine failure.

The flight declared a full emergency situation before its landing in Delhi. The incident occurred with the budget-Indian airline’s Airbus A321Neo aircraft.

According to reports, the IndiGo Delhi-Chennai flight (6E-2789) safely returned to Indira Gandhi International Airport within an hour of take-off on Saturday night following a snag in the engine.

The flight departed from Delhi airport at 9.46 pm on Saturday, and it was scheduled to arrive in Chennai at 12.24 am. However, the emergency situation forced the plane to return. The aircraft landed safely and is undergoing necessary inspection.

At the time of the incident, the Airbus aircraft had 231 passengers and 2 crew members onboard.  An alternate aircraft was provided for the passengers to be flown to Chennai.

Following the incident, IndiGo Airlines released a statement saying the company regrets the inconvenience caused to the passengers.
