A woman was killed and four others were injured after a car ran over them when they were walking on a footpath in Mangaluru
Mangaluru: In a tragic incident,a woman was killed and four others were injured after a car ran over them when they were walking on a footpath in Mangaluru.
The deceased has been identified as 23-year-old Roopashri. Among the four injured, three are minors.
The incident took place at 4 pm on Wednesday near Ladyhill locality.
According to sources, The victims were walking along the pedestrian area near the Mangalore City Corporation Swimming pool when a car driven by Kamlesh Baldev rammed into them and continued to drive over them before fleeing the scene.
Later, Kamalesh Baldev abandoned his vehicle near a car showroom and went to his residence.
The police have registered a case against Baldev under sections 279 (rash and negligent driving), 337 (causing hurt by an act endangering life or personal safety of others), 338 (causing grievous hurt by an act endangering life or personal safety of others), and 304(A) (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
